Product Review: Luke's APS Base Ready

Basing has never been my favourite part of this hobby, so anything that makes it easier is a win for me. A YouTuber - Luke's APS - I've been watching for a while has created his own range of quick and easy basing sets of which I picked up the 'City Rubble' set to try.

So it comes in a decent sized tub, which is likely to last me a while, which contains a good mix of different sized grains/stones from very very fine (which makes a well scaled sand/gravel) up to some big chunks (for small rocks).

It's applied the same way as any other basing, apply glue to the areas of the base you want to apply it (they recommend and supply a quick drying latex glue) and then dip the base in. The glue starts to set in about 10 minutes, which gives you plenty of time to add any extra bits (grass clumps etc).

And that's it, base is done! Nice and simple.

I like the effect, though I think I might like a little more colour variation in the rubble but I was able to knock out 8 bases in about 10 minutes so that makes me happy.

They make several different variations depending on what effect your looking for. I will be picking up a couple of more for future projects.

First Post

Welcome to JB Paints Badly, a hobby blog where I will be posting WIPs and finished models to help keep me motivated as I try to improve my painting. I also plan to add some product reviews / unboxings and if people are interested, tutorials of how I paint.

So to get things started, here is a shot of my latest project - Blood Ravens Primaris Reivers from the Warhammer40000 Conquest series. I've got the bases to do and also the squad / chapter markings on the shoulder pads.
